On
April 15, the Foundation for Science and Technology released the
provisional results of the evaluation of R&D Units (UID) under the
Multiannual Program for Financing R&D Units 2023/2024, and CinTurs
maintained its Very Good merit rating. The Management Panel evaluated
CinTurs, achieving an excellent result that recognises the unit's
scientific quality.
The
evaluation focused on the scientific and technological activities
carried out by the R&D Units between January 1, 2018 and December
31, 2023 and on the objectives, strategy, activity plan and organization
for the period 2025 to 2029. Read more.
CinTurs celebrated its 18th anniversary on 14 April. The Centre brings together a multidisciplinary team committed to excellence in tourism and hospitality research, dedicated to create an attractive environment for creative and outstanding work, with societal impact. The journal Tourism & Management Studies (TMS) is ranked SCOPUS Q1 in Cultural Studies, Q2 in Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality Management and Q2 in Business, Management and Accounting. The Call for Papers for TMS ALGARVE 2025: Technology and Sustainability Challenges in Tourism, Hospitality, and Management, to be held in Faro, Portugal, 12-15 November 2025, is now open. In its 8th edition, the TMS conference has established itself as a key platform for research and discussion in the field of tourism. The School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism of the University of the Algarve and CinTurs are organising the conference. Read more.
CinTurs organised a new session of its CinTurs Master Webinars, focusing on current research topics in tourism. The guest speaker was Professor Tom Baum, from the University of Strathclyde, UK, who presented a review of policy and practice in tourism employment, 1980-2025.
