Master Webinar

CinTurs is organising a new session in its Master Webinar on current research topics in tourism. The guest speaker is Dr John L. Crompton, Associate Head of Graduate and Undergraduate Programs from the Department of Hospitality, Hotel Management, and Tourism, Texas A&M University, USA. Dr. Crompton will talk about ‘Beyond Metrics: Shifting Measures of Research Impact from Citations and Journal Rankings to Meaningful Impacts on Society’. Research Internships

Every academic year, CinTurs promotes research internships to give undergraduate and postgraduate students from the University of Algarve the opportunity to participate in ongoing research projects. These placements are intended as a training tool, bringing students into direct contact with scientific research. This academic year (2024/25), 23 students participated in 11 ongoing studies and projects. Society

Following the “Strategic Insights for Geotourism Development in the Aspiring Geopark Algarvensis” developed in 2024, a new collaboration between the Aspiring Geopark Algarvensis, the Research Centre for Tourism, Sustainability and Well-being and the University of Algarve focuses on designing the Marketing and Branding strategy for the Geopark Algarvensis. Starting in May 2025, a report entitled “Strategic-to-Action Marketing Blueprint for the Algarvensis Geopark” will contribute to positioning it as a national and international benchmark in sustainable geotourism. Read more.

Consulting

A team of researchers from CinTurs, in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics, the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism (ESGHT), and the Communications Office at the University of Algarve, are studying the “Profile and Sustainability Perceptions of Participants in the 43rd Faro Motard Concentration 2025”. This initiative was prompted by an invitation from the Faro Motorcycle Club, which recognises the importance of incorporating scientific knowledge into the organisation and development of the event. Read more.
